The lovely Sophie from http://www.teatrovivo.co.uk/ hosted another wonderful Curiosity Shop event as part of Hither Green Festival. Meeting at http://www.youdontbringmeflowers.co.uk/ curious conservationist Nick Bertrand, from http://www.creeksidecentre.org.uk/, took us on a journey and introduced us to the wild flowers of Hither Green.

Wonderful weather and turn out!
The 2013 Plant and Seed Swap took place as usual on the first Sunday of the Hither Green Festival. Yesterday’s event was one of the most fun ever, fuelled by delicious cake from The Cafe of Good Hope and mint tea!
Thank you to our tiny HGCA organising team always do a fantastic job with this event and with Open Gardens Sunday. These are among the most neighbourly events of the Festival. Passers-by join in: often returning ten minutes later with a smile clutching treats from their own gardens to share.

Thank you to everyone for a busy session on the HG Station embankment yesterday. With FUSS working on Staplehurst Road and volunteers also at the community garden- it was a very green day.
We welcomed several fantastic new volunteers to the team! So fun! Having seen us at work previously, this time they got stuck in!
The embankment is looking at its spring best at the moment, it is awash with 5ft high umbellifers, mostly cow parsley but there are other species too. There are great whites clouds of cow parsley floating alongside Platform 1 and along the tree line along Springbank Road. Continue reading »
Dear Advertiser!
As you know, the Hither Green Festival is drawing nearer by the day and our advertising is now ready to put out and about in the area and in the Noticeboards. We will be using both Nocieboards (the one on the corner of Hither Green Land and Beacon Rd. and the one at the entrance to the tunnel at the station on Maythorne Cottages) to their full capacity advertising the events which are all happening during the Festival 9 days.
So between now and the 26th. May we will only be advertising the Festival. Please don’t be angry with us, and we hope you come to our events.
We look forward to seeing you.
This Saturday we are going to be on the Hither Green Station Embankment and in the Springbank Road Community garden. You are most welcome to join us!
We meet at 11am at the Platform 1 entrance to the Station on Springbank Road- this is opposite Duncrevie Road. Under 18s are not allowed to work on the embankment but families with children are very welcome in the Springbank bus stop garden.
At 2pm we will be meeting up with volunteers from FUSS at the Station Hotel for a gardeners’ get together drink! For more information please contact: volunteer@ourhithergreen.com
We’re pleased to announce that the Fayre will be also be accompanied by the Tony Patience Band who bring their own brand of local music. Continue reading »
